Israel attacked Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon

The Israeli army carried out air strikes on several areas in southern Lebanon, Israeli forces spokesman Avichay Adraee said on Thursday.

According to Adraee, the targets were Hezbollah facilities. Weapons depots and a launch pad were destroyed. Adraee accused the movement of attempting to rebuild military infrastructure throughout Lebanon. He also claimed that Hezbollah was allegedly putting civilians at risk and using them as human shields.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, two people were wounded in the Israeli strike on the village of Deir Seriyan. The bombing hit the northern part of the village, near the Litani River. The Lebanese news agency NNA reported that a parking lot where construction equipment and vehicles were parked was destroyed.

Despite the ceasefire that came into effect on November 27, 2024, the Israeli army continues its almost daily attacks on southern Lebanon. Since the start of the offensive, around 3,000 violations have been recorded. At least 213 people have been killed and 508 wounded.

Israel has withdrawn some of its troops from southern Lebanon but is holding five strategic heights captured during the fighting.

UN Security Council Resolution 1701, adopted in 2006 following the Second Lebanon War, calls for an end to hostilities, the withdrawal of Israeli forces beyond the “Blue Line,” the disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon, including Hezbollah, and the deployment of the Lebanese army and UNIFIL peacekeeping forces in the southern regions of the country.
