The Israeli Air Force carried out at least four strikes on the international airport in the Yemeni capital Sana’a, which is controlled by the Houthi Ansar Allah movement, on Wednesday.
A Yemenia Airways plane and the airport runway were hit. On Wednesday morning, the Israeli Defence Forces press service reported that the country’s fighter jets had attacked Sana’a International Airport and aircraft belonging to the Houthis, which were being used to transport terrorists planning attacks on Israeli territory.
Earlier, media reported that Houthis had attacked Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport and another important target in Tel Aviv with two ballistic missiles.
On May 6, Houthis threatened to respond to Israel and the United States for strikes on territory under its control. The movement’s statement said that its leadership regarded Israel’s attacks on Yemeni ports, as well as Sana’a airport, cement factories and power stations, as an attempt to impose a blockade on the Yemeni people.
