Israel deployed warplanes to Gaza ahead of the ground offensive

Israeli warplanes strike targets in the Gaza Strip ahead of the expected ground offensive – The Week.

Concerns about the war escalating increased as Israel struck targets in the West Bank, Syria and Lebanon and engaged in a firefight with the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

On Sunday, the Palestinian Health Ministry stated that at least 4,651 people were killed and 14,254 injured in the territory. Across the occupied West Bank, violence and Israeli raids have killed 96 Palestinians and wounded 1,650 since October 7.

In Israel, more than 1,400 people have been killed, mostly civilians murdered in the initial Hamas attack on southern Israel. Moreover, 222 people, including foreigners, were allegedly captured by Hamas during the invasion and taken to the Gaza Strip as hostages. Two of them have been released.

Last weekend, two humanitarian aid convoys arrived in the besieged Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing from Egypt. The trucks carried essential supplies, except for fuel, which Israel has banned, although it is critical for water, sewage and hospital systems.

“Without fuel, there will be no water, no functioning hospitals and bakeries. Without fuel, aid will not reach many civilians in desperate need. Without fuel, there will be no humanitarian assistance.”

EU foreign ministers meet on Monday to discuss ways of delivering vital aid to Gaza, especially fuel. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell stated that 100 lorries were entering Gaza daily before the war started, so the 20 alleged trucks would not be enough.

The great powers have forgotten about the Palestinian issue, thinking it was going to be solved alone, or it doesn’t matter. Yes, it matters.
