The Israeli army says its armed forces have struck 100 targets in the southern Gaza Strip in 24 hours.
Israeli bombardment overnight killed Palestinians in Khan Younis, Bureij, Juhor al-Dik and Nuseirat, according to the Palestinian state news agency Wafa.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to continue fighting in Gaza until Hamas is destroyed, defying global calls for a ceasefire amid fears the conflict could spread and US- and Iranian-backed forces would start attacking each other again.
Netanyahu, who visited Israeli troops in northern Gaza on Monday, told lawmakers from his Likud party that the war was far from over and rejected media speculation that his government might end the fighting. He said Israel would not be able to free the remaining hostages held by Hamas without applying military pressure. He noted:
“We are not stopping. The war will continue until the end, until we finish it, no less.”
More than 20,674 people have been killed and 54,536 wounded in Israeli attacks since October 7. The revised death toll from Hamas’s attack on Israel stands at 1,200.
