Israel kills more than 80 people in Gaza, halts humanitarian aid

At least 80 people have been killed and nearly 400 wounded in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours as a result of actions by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).

The Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave, whose data is cited by the Qatari television channel Al Jazeera, also reports nearly 400 wounded. Three Palestinians were killed and several wounded during an attack by Israeli settlers on the village of Kafr Malik, located northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

Israel has suspended humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza, Channel 12 reports, citing an Israeli official.

Earlier, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he had ordered the military to present an action plan within the next two days to prevent the theft of humanitarian aid by members of the Hamas movement.

The TV channel’s source said that the statement from the Prime Minister’s Office came after Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich threatened that he would no longer be able to remain in the government if immediate measures were not taken to prevent aid from reaching Hamas.

According to him, the suspension of humanitarian aid will remain in place until the IDF present their plan.

On June 15, the Israeli army began withdrawing some of its troops from the enclave to strengthen its positions on the borders with Jordan, Syria and Lebanon.

On June 12, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
