The death toll from Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 2023 has reached 52,365.
The latest report notes that over the past 24 hours, the bodies of 52 dead and 113 wounded have been brought to hospitals in Gaza, bringing the total number of casualties since the start of the conflict to 117,905, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
According to the ministry, after the collapse of the ceasefire reached on 19 January, Israel resumed active hostilities on March 18. Since then, in just over a month, 2,273 Palestinians have been killed and more than 5,800 wounded in strikes.
Thousands of bodies may remain under the rubble of destroyed buildings, waiting to be recovered by rescuers.
Meanwhile, Israel has rejected a proposal for a five-year ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the one-time release of all hostages.
According to an Israeli official, a number of Arab countries are also proposing a five-year ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian groups in Gaza. However, the Israeli side is sceptical about such proposals, fearing that Hamas could use the truce to build up its military capabilities and resume more intense attacks against the Jewish state in the future.
The situation in Gaza remains critical, despite international calls for a ceasefire and the protection of civilians.
