Tel Aviv has announced that the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt will reopen on Wednesday, allowing Palestinians to travel in both directions after authorities carried out a new assessment of security conditions in the area.
Israeli authorities have said that the Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt will reopen on Wednesday for Palestinian movement in both directions.
According to the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), the decision followed a renewed assessment of the situation and a review of the conditions required to resume operations at the border terminal.
“After examining the conditions, it was decided to reopen the crossing while maintaining the necessary security measures in light of the current situation and threats in the area,” the statement said.
The Rafah crossing was closed at the start of the war with Iran. Israeli officials said that once it reopens, the crossing will operate under the same mechanism that was in place before it was shut.
