Israel, the U.S. and Hamas seem to reach a tentative agreement

Israel, the United States and Hamas reached a tentative agreement to release hostages held in the Gaza Strip in exchange for a five-day pause in fighting – Reuters reports.

The report came as Israel appeared to be preparing to expand its offensive against Hamas militants in the southern Gaza Strip after airstrikes killed dozens of Palestinians sheltering in schools.

The conflict on both sides is suspended for at least five days, with 50 or more hostages released in groups every 24 hours.

The pause would also include the importation of a significant amount of humanitarian aid; by the way, the outline of the agreement was drafted during weeks of talks in Qatar.

Reportedly, the White House or the Israeli prime minister’s office have yet to comment on the matter.
