Israel to hold talks with Lebanon on land border

Israel and Lebanon have agreed to hold talks to discuss border differences and the issue of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) presence in southern Lebanon, Israeli media reported on Tuesday, citing the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

At the meeting, which took place in the Lebanese town of al-Naqurah between representatives of the IDF, the US, France and Lebanon, the two sides agreed to establish three joint working groups on a number of issues.

One group will deal with the issue of Israel’s continued military presence in five locations in Lebanon, a second with the issue of the border line between Israel and Lebanon, and a third with Lebanese citizens being held in Israel.

In addition, Israel has agreed to release five Lebanese prisoners as a mark of respect for Lebanon’s new President, Joseph Aoun.

Meanwhile, an Israeli drone attacked a car in southern Lebanon, killing several people.

An Israeli drone hit a car on the Deir al-Zahrani river road, Al-Manar TV reported. The number of dead and wounded has not yet been released.
