Israeli airstrikes hit southern Gaza overnight into Sunday, killing at least 19 Palestinians. Officials confirmed that a senior Hamas political leader was among the dead.
Meanwhile, Houthi rebels in Yemen, who back Hamas, launched a missile at Israel. The Israeli military intercepted it, reporting no casualties or damage.
Two hospitals in southern Gaza received 17 bodies from the strikes. Medical staff confirmed that several women and children were among the dead. The European Hospital reported that a strike in Khan Younis killed five children and their parents. Another attack in the city killed two young girls and their parents. The Kuwaiti Hospital also received the bodies of a woman and child killed in a separate strike.
Hamas announced that Salah Bardawil, a senior political figure and Palestinian parliament member, died in a strike near Khan Younis. His wife also lost her life. Bardawil, a well-known Hamas leader, frequently spoke to the media. However, hospitals did not include him and his wife in their reported toll.
Israel resumed attacks on Hamas last week, ending a ceasefire. Airstrikes across Gaza have caused significant casualties. In response, the Houthis renewed their missile attacks on Israel, calling them acts of solidarity. This comes despite recent US-led airstrikes against the group in Yemen.
