Israeli army again attacks Palestinians waiting for aid

At least six Palestinians, including three children, were killed in Israeli army strikes on various parts of the Gaza Strip on Monday.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, one of the strikes hit a group of Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid at a distribution point in the central part of the enclave. Two Palestinians were killed and 35 others were wounded. Sixteen of the wounded are in critical condition.

On May 27, Israel began distributing so-called humanitarian aid through an organisation called the Gaza Humanitarian Relief Fund, created with the support of Israel and the US, bypassing the UN and international humanitarian organisations.

However, this structure is not recognised by the UN and is rejected by Palestinian groups. The Hamas movement calls it a “death trap.”

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of France Unbowed (LFI), expressed his support for the people of Gaza on X:

“Netanyahu has ordered the siege, starvation and thirst of the population of Gaza. His army is killing children and women with utter indifference. Like many states and international organisations, we use the word “genocide.” Because international law allows us to describe this transition to a genocidal policy.”

Netanyahu declares Israel close to achieving its goals in Gaza

Israel will continue to act with full force in its operations in Iran and the Gaza Strip, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

According to him, Israel is moving towards its goals and is “very close to achieving them.” Netanyahu assured that Israel will not be drawn into a war of attrition, but will not stop “this historic operation until our goals are achieved.”

The Israeli prime minister noted that the US had inflicted “very serious damage” on one of the key facilities of Iran’s nuclear programme in Fordow as a result of strikes on the night of June 22.

Netanyahu stressed that in this way, the US and Israel are “eliminating the threat” posed by Iran’s nuclear programme. According to his assessment, Israel has also disabled more than half of Iran’s ballistic missile launchers.

Netanyahu believes that the operation in Iran will help Israel achieve its goals in the Gaza Strip, since “without Iranian support, all of this will collapse.” He is referring to support for the Islamist group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip and with which Israel has been at war since its militants attacked Israeli territory on October 7, 2023.

The Israeli prime minister says the war in the Gaza Strip could end “in an instant” if Hamas surrenders, lays down its arms and releases all hostages. Netanyahu also expressed his readiness for peace talks to discuss the plan of US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
