The Israeli army on Wednesday claimed the killing of 90 Palestinians over the past two days in Al-Shifa hospital and neighbouring areas of Gaza City.
The military said in a statement:
“Over the past day, the troops have eliminated terrorists and located weapons in the hospital area, while preventing harm to civilians, patients, medical teams, and medical equipment.”
The statement added that an additional 160 people were arrested and transferred to Israel for further interrogation, while 300 people are still being questioned on the ground at the hospital. The statement added that Israeli forces continue to fight in the areas around Al-Shifa Hospital.
The Israeli army says its soldiers avoid harming civilians, patients, medical teams and medical equipment at the hospital.
The government media office in Gaza said on Tuesday that people at Al-Shifa Hospital, including patients and medical teams, are deprived of food and water under the Israeli blockade imposed since the Israeli army raided the hospital early Monday. It claimed Israeli troops have killed and injured some 250 Palestinian civilians inside the hospital.
