Israeli settlers were responsible for nearly 89% of fires targeting Palestinian property in the occupied West Bank since 2023, according to a Palestinian commission.
The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said it recorded 900 fires between January 2023 and July 10, 2026. The incidents involved Palestinian homes, buildings and vehicles.
The commission attributed 799 fires to Israeli settlers. It blamed the Israeli army for the remaining 101 incidents.
Number of fires increased each year
The report shows that the number of recorded fires increased over the period. Authorities documented 217 incidents in 2023 and 264 in 2024.
The figure rose again in 2025. The commission recorded 307 fires during that year.
Between January 1 and July 10, 2026, the commission documented another 112 incidents. The figures show continued reports of property fires across the West Bank.
Nablus was the most affected governorate, with 281 recorded fires. Ramallah and al-Bireh followed with 271 incidents.
Together, the two governorates accounted for 552 fires. That represents about 61.3% of all cases recorded by the commission.
The same period also saw 121 Palestinian communities fully or partly displaced. The commission said 46 communities were completely emptied, forcing more than 6,200 Palestinians from their homes.
Commission links attacks to settlement outposts
More than 3,000 children were among those displaced, according to the report. The commission said the attacks had placed further pressure on Palestinian communities.
It attributed the situation to what it called a “government environment of enablement”. The commission said this contributes to a lack of accountability for those responsible.
The report also identified illegal settlement outposts as key locations for attacks. It said incidents have included arson, road closures and restrictions on Palestinian access to land and water sources.
