King Charles thanked public for support after cancer diagnosis

The King Charles has heartily thanked the public for their support after his cancer diagnosis in a statement, WAtoday informed.

In a letter from Sandringham, Norfolk, where he is working from home and resting after his first course of treatment, the King acknowledged the goodwill shown to him since Buckingham Palace announced his diagnosis less than a week ago. He also expressed his “lifelong admiration” for everyone who supports those affected by cancer.

The King is undergoing treatment for an unspecified type of cancer and will spend much of the week at Sandringham or Highgrove away from public events in a bid to improve his health.

In his address to the nation, the King emphasised the sincere importance of “public understanding” of cancer:

It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world.

He is expected to return to London more or less weekly to have an audience with the Prime Minister and to receive further treatment and medical advice. Although no events are expected in the upcoming week, he may nevertheless meet the Prime Minister in person and will carry out his usual official duties from his office.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are spending the school holidays with their three children while the Princess recovers from abdominal surgery. Princess Catherine will not return to her duties until Easter, while Prince William to get back to work once his children return to school, but in the meantime he has taken time off to be with his wife in hospital for the majority of her two-week stay.

The family are staying at Anmer Hall, their home in Norfolk, from where William can visit his father privately.
