Macron has announced plans to enshrine abortion rights in the French constitution by the end of this year.
A draft that would enshrine abortion rights in the constitution will be presented to the Council of State this week, Macron said online.

This popularity among the population is due to the fact that 234,000 abortions were performed in France last year, according to government figures.
