Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has arrived in Paris on Thursday on an official visit where he discussed a number of issues with French President Emanuel Macron, primarily about Serbia’s European future, as well as issues related to the Expo 2027. He pointed out that both said that we are entering a turbulent era, a general uncertainty in the world, and that we should all prepare for it.
Vucic arrived at the Elysee Palace in Paris, where he was met by French President Emmanuel Macron with a French army guard of honour. The French President invited President Vucic to a working lunch, where the two leaders discussed bilateral co-operation, Serbia’s European path, the geopolitical situation and economic topics.
Vucic said he also spoke with the French president about Kosovo and Metohija and “everything else.”
“We don’t think about everything the same, which is very clear, the fact is that they recognised Kosovo’s independence, but we have increasingly close views. I am very grateful to President Macron for his exceptional understanding of our situation and for going deep into it. He could have spent his time differently, he spoke to me for more than two hours. Thank him endlessly, especially in such turbulent times,” Vucic said.
“I ask France to participate in the Expo, I hope for a positive answer,” Vucic said, adding that they also talked about bilateral co-operation and French companies in Serbia, as well as problems with US tariffs.
“France will work to pacify the situation in Ukraine. We also talked about the Western Balkans, I proposed initiatives related to Republika Srpska and BiH. I also said that Serbia has experienced terror in the last four months,” Vucic said.
According to him, Macron and he said that difficult times are coming and “everyone should prepare for it.” Vucic also said they talked about Kosovo and Metohija and had “increasingly close views.”
“We don’t think the same about Kosovo and Metohija, but we have increasingly close views. Macron is going deeper into this,” Vucic noted.
