Microsoft plans to invest $80 billion in AI-enabled data centres during its 2025 fiscal year. The company aims to support AI model training and deploy AI-driven and cloud-based applications globally.
Brad Smith, Microsoft’s Vice Chair and President, revealed this in a recent blog post. He emphasised that AI has the potential to drive innovation and improve productivity across industries.
Smith noted that the United States holds a strong position in the global AI race. He attributed this leadership to private sector investments and contributions from companies of all sizes. Start-ups and established enterprises alike play a key role, he said.
“Microsoft has seen this through partnerships with OpenAI, emerging firms such as Anthropic and xAI, and its AI-powered platforms and applications,” he added.
This investment highlights Microsoft’s commitment to advancing AI technology and maintaining its leadership in the industry.
