Around 760 flights have been cancelled at Munich airport, buses, trams and some trains have also been suspended in Munich due to the snowfall.

Deutsche Bahn says Munich’s main railway station was closed to arriving passengers, while long-distance trains were also suspended.

Many travellers were stranded at Munich’s main station due to the weather conditions, according to Suddeutsche Zeitung.

On Saturday, police asked Munich’s citizens not to use their cars until necessary.

Munich received 45 centimetres of snow on Saturday, a record for December since 1933. The previous record was 44 centimetres on 29 December 1938. The snowfall in Bavaria was the heaviest in 17 years.
