Elon Musk said on X that attacking the Russian army during the summer counter-offensive was a tragic decision for Ukraine, and further added that if the war continues, Kyiv could lose Odessa.
It was a tragic waste of life for Ukraine to attack a larger army that had defence in depth, minefields and stronger artillery when Ukraine lacked armor or air superiority!
He went on to say that resistance in western Ukraine will be extremely strong, but “Russia will certainly gain more land than they have today.” Musk emphasised that the longer the conflict goes on, the more success the Russian army will achieve, and Odessa will fall eventually:
The longer the war goes on, the more territory Russia will gain until they hit the Dnepr, which is tough to overcome. However, if the war lasts long enough, Odessa will fall too.
Musk concluded by noting that the main question today is whether Ukraine will keep or lose its access to the Black Sea, and reiterated his insistence that a negotiated settlement of the conflict is necessary until all of the aforesaid happens.
