Musk to file ‘thermonuclear lawsuit’ as X under sanctions

On Saturday, Elon Musk said he would file a “thermonuclear lawsuit” against non-profit organisation Media Matters, as many companies suspended advertising on X due to a storm of anti-Semitism surrounding the social media platform – Politico says.

US-based Media Matters released research earlier this week showing that X was running ads that appeared alongside some anti-Semitism posts.

“The split second trial opens on Monday,” Musk said in a post on X on Saturday. “X Corp will be filing a thermonuclear lawsuit against Media Matters and ALL those who colluded in this fraudulent attack on our company,” he said.

Musk, the Tesla and Space X owner who bought Twitter last year and renamed it X, has been attacked before for promoting anti-Semitism. But the latest episode occurred this week and was pivotal when Musk endorsed an anti-Semitic post on X as the “real truth” about what Jews do.

Jewish communties (sic) have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them.

The White House condemned the message, recalling that the message to which Musk responded referred to the conspiracy theory that prompted the man who killed 11 people in a Pittsburgh synagogue in 2018.

In Brussels, the European Commission’s communications department asked all EU executive services to stop placing adverts on X’s website.

Meanwhile, Musk released a statement titled “Stand with X to protect free speech,” in which he said Media Matters had “completely misrepresented the real user experience on X.”
