North Korea criticised the blocking of the UN resolution by the US.
A senior North Korean official criticised the United States for blocking the UN resolution, saying the veto demonstrates Washington’s “double standards” by condemning North Korea’s recent satellite launch while simultaneously approving continued fighting in Gaza, North Korean state media KCNA reported today.
“The United States’ abuse of its veto power to protect an ally that massacred tens of thousands of civilians is not only a manifestation of illegal and unreasonable double standards, but also the height of inhumane evil,” according to Kim Son-gyong, North Korea’s vice foreign minister for international organisations.
The ceasefire resolution at the UN failed to pass after the United States vetoed the resolution and Britain abstained while the other 13 participants supported the resolution.
National security advisers from the United States, South Korea and Japan met on Saturday to reaffirm their coordinated response to North Korea.
