The Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has condemned US State Department chief Marco Rubio’s remarks that North Korea is “rogue state,” Korean media reported on Monday.
Last week, Rubio called it “unnatural” and an “anomaly” that there is only one dominant power in the world and called for a multi-polarity with several major nations. He added that there are also “rogue countries” like Iran and the DPRK that “have to be dealt with as well.”
The DPRK Foreign Ministry said it considers Rubio’s words hostile and his behaviour aimed at undermining North Korea’s image, a serious political provocation that comprehensively contradicts the principles of international law.
The statement said that the US “innate antipathy” towards the DPRK is nothing new, and it will not help protect the interests of the American people, as Pyongyang will take “strong adequate measures” against such provocative acts.
On January 25, the Korean media reported that North Korea had successfully tested a strategic guided cruise missile, which is designed to be submarine-based and strike targets on land.
