North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Im Chon Il said the alliance between the US, Japan and South Korea as well as NATO were cancerous tumours of the world order, posing a threat to peace and global security, North Korean Central News Agency reported.
Im Chon Il said in an interview with the North Korean Central News Agency:
The military alliance of the US, Japan and the Republic of Korea, which is exposing hostile designs against North Korea and its neighboring countries, as well as NATO, the instigator of the Ukraine crisis, are cancerous tumors endangering the international order and posing a serious threat to world peace and security.
The diplomat also stressed that the US had no right to accuse independent states of trying to unite to counter the imperialist threat, while they themselves are focused on uniting with allies to preserve their own hegemony.
Im Chon Il said the Washington-led alliances posed a constant threat to the security of independent states through their “aggressive and chauvinistic nature.”
Recently, the United States, South Korea, and Japan have been actively pursuing trilateral cooperation, especially on issues related to North Korea. In late August, US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol visited the US leader’s country residence at Camp David, Maryland, near Washington, DC. The North Korean leaders were one of the main topics on the meeting’s agenda.
