Norway’s Princess Ingrid Alexandra to study at Sydney

Princess Ingrid Alexandra, the future queen of Norway, is starting her studies at the University of Sydney, the Norwegian Royal Court announced on Friday.

The future queen of Norway has decided to specialise in international relations and political economy, subjects she will study for three years.

Earlier, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit explained in an interview that they would allow their daughter to choose any subjects she wished.

In 2022, Crown Princess Mette-Marit hinted to the press that she could imagine her daughter studying medicine.

Ingrid Alexandra’s departure for Sydney appears to be a decision that will allow the young woman to take a break from the media spotlight. On the other side of the world, she hopes to study at university like other students her age.

Between finishing secondary school in the summer of 2023 and starting military service in January 2024, Princess Ingrid Alexandra filled her free time volunteering at a school and a charity. On her 18th birthday, King Harald opened a private office for her at the Royal Palace in Oslo, the official workplace of the royal family.
