One person was killed and seven injured in an explosion suspected to have been caused by a gas leak at a department store in Taichung city, Thai media reported on Thursday.
One person died at the scene, six others were hospitalised, one was treated at the scene.
According to preliminary reports, the explosion occurred on the 12th floor of the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi complex when a gas cylinder was being changed in the restaurant.
However, police note that the cause of the explosion is still under investigation. Rescue efforts are continuing at the scene of the incident.
