Israeli forces advanced into the Shejaia area in northern Gaza and moved deeper into western and central Rafah in the south, according to Arab media.
Tanks that returned to Shejaia four days ago shelled several homes on Sunday. Speaking at the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his commitment to eliminating Hamas.
We are committed to fighting until we achieve all of our objectives: Eliminating Hamas, returning all of our hostages, ensuring that Gaza never again constitutes a threat to Israel and returning our residents securely to their homes in the south and the north.
One person was killed and five others were injured near the city of Tulkarm in an Israeli strike, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The deceased was allegedly a member of the militant group Islamic Jihad.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military stated that forces operating in Shejaia killed several Palestinian militants over the past day and discovered military infrastructure inside a United Nations school, as well as dozens of weapons and “valuable intelligence documents.”
According to Gaza Health Ministry, Israel’s retaliatory offensive following the 7 October Hamas attack has so far killed nearly 38,000 people.
Former Minister of Finance of Greece, Yanis Varoufakis, claimed on X that the Israeli army “routinely tortured and killed Palestinian doctors.”
Palestinian doctors routinely tortured and killed in Israeli Army custody. Where is the outcry by the West’s otherwise loquacious Medical Associations?
Palestinians reject foreign administration
On Sunday, the Palestinian presidency issued a statement rejecting any administration of the Gaza Strip by international forces in response to Israeli statements calling for such a move, according to Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the official spokesperson for the presidency.
There is no legitimacy for any foreign presence on Palestinian Territory, and only the Palestinian people can decide who governs them and manages their affairs.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority quoted an unnamed security official. He stated that the Israeli army would remain in Gaza until an international force could be found to replace it, which could take several months.
Abu Rudeineh reiterated “the illegitimacy of colonies and the displacement policy that the occupation authorities were trying to implement on the ground through bloody massacres.”
We will not accept or allow the presence of a foreigner on our land, whether in the West Bank or the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian issue is one of land and statehood, not a matter of humanitarian aid. It is a sacred cause and the central issue for the Arabs.
Meanwhile, the Gaza Health Ministry warned on Sunday that hospitals and oxygen stations across the Strip would stop operating within 48 hours due to fuel depletion caused by the ongoing Israeli-Hamas war.
The ministry called on “all relevant international and humanitarian organisations to promptly intervene by supplying the required fuel, as well as electrical generators and necessary spare parts for maintenance.” On Friday, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, Hossam Abu Safiya, announced that the hospital would soon cease operations due to a shortage of fuel needed for its electrical generators.
