Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and French President Emmanuel discussed the situation by phone on Wednesday, the Armenian government informed.
According to the authorities, the leaders discussed the emerging humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the situation of forcibly displaced ethnic Armenians.
The President and the Prime Minister also touched upon the Armenia-France bilateral agenda.
At a recent meeting with Armenian Minister of Labour and Social Protection Narek Mkrtchyan, French Ambassador Olivier Decotigny announced that France would allocate 7 million euros to help the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh who had resettled in Armenia.
Armenian Prime Minister’s spokeswoman Nazeli Baghdasaryan stated on Wednesday that 53,629 forcibly displaced persons arrived in Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh via the Lachin corridor.
