Poland will host a significant military parade on 15 August to mark its triumph against the Red Army at the 1920 Battle of Warsaw, according to Euronews.
The commemorations honouring Polish Army Day will feature nearly 4,000 domestic troops alongside almost 200 personnel from allied nations including the US and UK. For the first time, the celebrations will extend to the Baltic Sea with a concurrent naval parade involving 20 vessels plus hydrographic and rescue ships near Hel.
The centrepiece remains the midday procession along Warsaw’s Wisłostrada. Colonel Joanna Klejszmit, spokesperson for the General Staff of the Polish Army, stated:
“We will be showing the most modern equipment at the disposal of the Polish Armed Forces.”
The display will include tanks and lighter armoured vehicles, alongside F-16 fighter jets and AH-64 Apache helicopters. Himars rocket launchers will feature prominently, complemented by the Australian Army’s E-7A Wedgetail early-warning aircraft participating for the first time.
Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted France’s crucial historical role during rehearsals.
“This is special, because the Battle of Warsaw also with the participation of French troops, the support of French generals, commanders, could have been victorious, so we will thank our allies as well,” Kosiniak-Kamysz stated.
Both the land parade and naval display will commence simultaneously and broadcast live nationwide.
Poland currently allocates over 4% of its GDP to defence, maintaining NATO’s third-largest military force with 216,100 personnel.
