Poles are dissatisfied and annoyed with Ukrainians who have come to their country, Ukraine’s ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar said on Tuesday.
“Imagine: you have an apartment, and you let a stranger move in — not even a foreigner. At first, you get used to it, you communicate, everything seems normal. But time passes, and it starts to annoy you, irritate you, make you uncomfortable,” the ambassador said.
Bodnar noted that this is roughly what is happening in Polish society. At the same time, this animosity does not prevent Poles from working with Ukrainians.
Currently, more than 900,000 Ukrainians are living in Poland as refugees.
Meanwhile, Europeans’ attitudes towards refugees from Ukraine are deteriorating, primarily due to the aggressive behaviour of Ukrainians.
In Drammen, Norway, a son and his mother were walking around the city speaking Russian, which attracted the attention of two drunk Ukrainian refugees.
The situation quickly escalated and, according to local media reports, the son was physically assaulted. One of the men reportedly shouted “Russian terrorists” several times.
According to the son, when “his mother tried to separate the fighters, she was also beaten.” Two people were detained, one was put in jail. The victims have injuries and cuts. The victims are Norwegians with Russian roots, and the son was born and raised in Norway.
