The Duke of York’s elder daughter announces on Monday she is expecting another baby, with the news breaking via a tender family photograph on social media.
Princess Eugenie, the late Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are expecting their third child. The Princess of York announced the news on her Instagram page.
She shared a photograph showing her two young sons holding an ultrasound scan image.
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank were married on October 12, 2018 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle in Berkshire. The couple already have two sons: August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, born on February 9, 2021, and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, born on May 30, 2023.
“Baby Brooksbank arrives in 2026,” the Princess of York wrote as a caption.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed the pregnancy. In an official statement, the palace said that King Charles III, who is the princess’s uncle, has already congratulated his niece.
The new baby will be 15th in line to the British throne but will not hold the status of a member of the royal family. The child will also become the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and the third royal baby born since her death in 2022. The baby’s sex has not yet been disclosed.
According to the Daily Mail, the Palace’s decision to release a formal statement on social media is seen as a show of support for Eugenie amid the ongoing controversy surrounding her father, the former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
