Putin: The West does not need big Russia

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin addressed the Worldwide Russian People’s Assembly via video link on Tuesday, Russian media reported.

Fundamentally, the West does not need such a large and multinational country as Russia.

Putin noted that Russia’s “diversity and unity of cultures, traditions, languages, ethnicities” did not fit into the “logic” of Western values.

“So they are reusing the same old narrative again: Russia is a prison of nations, and Russians themselves are a nation of slaves. We have heard this many times over the centuries.”

The president pointed out that Russia’s detractors wanted to ruin and plunder it.

If they can’t pull this off by force, then they will try to sow discord.

The country’s leader stressed that foreign interference and provocative actions aimed at fuelling inter-ethnic or inter-religious conflicts would be regarded as “an attempt to challenge Russia with terrorism and extremism as a tool of fighting.”

“We will respond proportionately.”

Putin also accused Western elites of pushing Russophobia.

Today, Russophobia, other forms of racism and neo-Nazism have practically become the official ideology of Western ruling elites.

The Worldwide Russian People’s Assembly celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, with a forum dedicated to the present and future of the Russia.
