Putin’s inauguration broadcast by world media

The world’s leading media outlets broadcast live coverage of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s inauguration ceremony.

President Vladimir Putin was sworn in for a new six-year term on Tuesday in a Kremlin ceremony boycotted by the US and other Western countries, at which he said he was potentially open to talks on a nuclear programme with the West, Reuters reports.

Sky News has drawn attention to the success of the Russian Armed Forces on the Ukrainian front. It also said that the Russian president looked very confident.

The Daily Mail pointed out the presence of famous Hollywood actor Steven Seagal at the inauguration.

Politico believes that Putin “shows no signs of deviating from his current course”. The journalists also drew attention to the changes that may take place in the Cabinet after the inauguration.

Le Monde briefly described the inauguration ceremony, drawing attention to the Russian leader’s remarks that spoke of the country’s future victory in an armed conflict. The publication also emphasised that after the amendments introduced, Putin could remain president until 2036.
