Qatar to invest €10 billion in French start-ups

Qatar and France have signed a strategic partnership agreement, France 24 reports.

As part of the new agreement, Qatar has agreed to invest 10 billion euros ($10.85 billion) in start-ups and investment funds in France between 2024 and 2030.

The investment “to the mutual benefit of both countries” will be in key sectors such as energy, semiconductors, aerospace, artificial intelligence, digital technology, healthcare, hospitality and culture, the French presidency said in a statement.

The investment was announced as Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar’s ruling emir, began a two-day visit to France on Tuesday – his first state visit to the country since ascending the throne in 2013.
