Qatari PM to visit Iran

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani would visit Iran in the coming days, Arab media reported.

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is scheduled to consult with Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, on bilateral and important regional issues.

Along with Egypt and the United States, Iran brokered a ceasefire to end the 10-month war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken left Qatar on Tuesday after a trip to the Middle East to bring urgency to efforts to broker a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The visits come amid concerns that Iran has vowed to retaliate for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on 31 July, which it has blamed on Israel.
