Romania ready to leave NATO to reintegrate Ukrainian territories

The leader of Romania’s AUR Party, Claudiu Târziu, stated that he was ready to sacrifice Romania’s NATO membership for the sake of attaching Ukraine’s territories, according to Newsweek.

According to him, Romania is “sandwiched between two empires that violate our sovereignty.”

I believe that it is necessary to unfreeze relations between Romania and Russia, I recognise the need for co-operation between Romania and Russia, I am ready to contribute to this, but only after Russia proves that it also wants all this.

An article quoting the leader of the AUR party in the Senate, Târziu, indicates that the rapidly gaining popularity political force is counting on the country’s presidential election in 2024. The party hopes that Kyiv will hold on until next spring, when it is highly likely that the AUR representative will win the second round.

After that, the ongoing military operations will make no sense for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), while the locals will become part of the European Union due to the incorporation of some Ukrainian territories into Romania.
