A royal insider has spoken out about Princess Kate’s “struggle” with cancer, but claimed Kate will “come back” when she gets clearance from her doctors, The West Australian reports.
Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent, revealed the devastating difficulties of Kate’s health battle, especially in the early stages. She told The Sun:
“I’ve been told by sources very close to the Princess of Wales that she had struggled with the treatment initially. It’s preventive chemotherapy, it’s not a pleasant thing. No one wants to have to have this, you know, off the back of major surgery, a pretty long recovery period, and then she has to go through the treatment. I think it was a struggle initially and I was very, very relieved to hear from actually more than one source that she has recently turned a corner.”
The insider hit back at rumours that the Princess of Wales may never return to public duties, saying she was “100 per cent” coming back. She also added:
“Everything I hear is that she will be back to work. She’s coming back 100 per cent to pick up as Princess of Wales and do the great work she was doing before. It will just be in her time and she’s ready and crucially when she gets the sign-off from her medical team.”
King’s Birthday Parade
The interview adds to speculation that Kate could make a triumphant return to public appearances as early as Saturday.
Saturday will see the Trooping the Colours parade, also known as the King’s Birthday Parade. This age-old tradition – the British Army’s gift to His Majesty in honour of the monarch’s official birthday – has a prominent place in the royal calendar.
Although her absence from the rehearsal was noted, palace officials have neither confirmed nor denied her possible appearance on the balcony on June 15.
Rhea Freeman, a well-known British public relations expert, told GB News that her appearance would be a huge win for the palace. She told the outlet:
“If Kate were to appear on the balcony it would definitely dominate the news. But from everything I’ve read and seen, I would imagine that the King would be delighted to have her there. It would reinforce the strength of the monarchy moving forward, something that has been questioned by some with both the King and Kate’s recent health concerns.”
The announcement of the diagnosis
On March 22, an announcement appeared online in which the princess revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer. According to Kate, the diagnosis was confirmed by tests carried out after a surgical intervention, due to which she was routinely hospitalised in January this year.
The princess thanked for the support of her loved ones and recognised the medical team who are helping her fight the disease. She also said that she is looking forward to returning to work, but now she is forced to take a break from public activity – all her energies should be channelled into recovery.
