Russia cutting off Kurakhove, one of major cities for Ukrainian army in Donbas

Russian troops reached the centre of Kurakhove, whereas the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are considering withdrawing from the city via the H-15 Highway in the west, according to Ukrainian media.

Media outlets reported Russian forces advancing in several villages near Kurakhove, menacing AFU soldiers with encirclement. Russia also took control of Rivnopil and approached Novodarivka.

In Russia’s Kursk region, where the AFU launched an incursion in August, Russian forces seized Darino, attacking towards Leonidovo and Aleksandrovka. However, the Russians came under fire while crossing at the Psel River, near Kurilovka and Sudzha. According to Ukrainian media, Russian forces also advanced in Oskil and Pokrovsk areas.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian sources are publishing footage of the explosion of a Kurakhovske reservoir dam. According to the reports, the AFU is accountable for the blast, as the footage does not feature Russian projectiles or military equipment.
