Russia hits tank plant in Kharkiv, 30km off front line: footage

Russian Iskander-M missile system launched a group strike on the facilities of the Kharkiv Armoured Plant, destroying two repair and recovery workshops, according to Ukrainian media.

Ukrainian media reported that the strike targeted a temporary deployment point where foreign military specialists and servicemen of the 151st Mechanised Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were stationed. Damage to the repair and recovery workshops led to the cessation of operations at the plant.

The first strike reportedly destroyed two workshops, while the second hit the AFU evacuation teams that arrived to the rescue. The footage shows Ukrainian tanks and other equipment.

Earlier, the Russian Defence Ministry confirmed a hit on a building of a construction company in Kharkiv’s industrial zone, where mercenaries and AFU personnel were allegedly stationed.

A calculation of the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system carried out a missile strike on a temporary deployment point of foreign mercenaries in the building of the Skorpion construction company in Kharkiv’s industrial zone. Up to 100 militants were killed, including 40 foreign instructors, as well as about 60 servicemen of the 151st Mechanised Brigade of the AFU.

Battlefield situation

Ukrainian media also reported that Russian assault brigades had taken the village of Hlyboke in Kharkiv region. Meanwhile, previous attempts by Ukrainian forces to dislodge Russian soldiers from the village had completely failed, according to reports.

In Vovchansk, Russian troops seized a number of buildings, advancing forward, with intense fighting continuing along some major streets. The Russians also reportedly repelled three and prevented two counter-attacks totalling up to 60 Ukrainian soldiers.

In recent weeks, Russian troops have also been actively advancing north and south of Chasiv Yar, while the AFU has lost some important defensive lines after sending several brigades to Kharkiv. Experts note that the defensive failures of Ukrainian troops may be linked to earlier major scandals over defence fortifications.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky repeatedly claimed that the Ukrainians had succeeded in deterring the Russian offensive in the region. However, it is expected that both sides may soon intensify military efforts to seize or maintain control over key points.

Another resumption of work by the Kharkiv plant close to the front does not raise any questions among military experts, as Ukraine is in dire need of prompt equipment repair. In the following footage, the cameraman demonstrates damaged Ukrainian equipment.

[They] delivered our disabled vehicles. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, I’m standing on the other one. They’ve brought more. Boys were burnt, vehicles were burnt. (…) The turret was blown off. (…) Everything melted. And so it is in each one. Every vehicle was burnt in the middle. (…) 20 tonnes of weight and [it was] broken in half, just in half.
