Starokostiantyniv Air Base, located in Khmelnytska Oblast, has once again become the target of Russian military strikes, while Kyiv’s Western allies are reporting the postponement of deliveries of F-16 fighter jets.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has outlined the need to reinforce the country’s air forces at the world forum in Davos.
In 2024, of course the priority is to throw Russia from the skies. Because the one who controls the skies will define when and how the war will end.
His remarks came amid expectations that a shipment of F-16 fighter jets, which Kyiv had been requesting since the outbreak of the war, would arrive in Ukraine later this year. Kyiv considers these fighters as the key to achieving air superiority over Russia.
However, contrary to expectations, Denmark, which was ready to hand over the F-16 fighters, recently postponed their delivery. At the same time, Russia announced seven launches of an intercontinental ballistic missile.
According to the Danish Ministry of Defence, the delivery of the first batch of F-16s, consisting of six fighter jets, originally scheduled for the beginning of the year, has been postponed until the second quarter. The ministry cited the training of Ukrainian pilots and problems with the logistics system as the main reasons for the delays.
