Russia launched powerful missile strike on Ukrainian Pivdenmash military plant: footage

Russian forces carried out a combined missile strike on the Ukrainian defence plant Pivdenmash, previously known as Yuzhmash, in Dnipropetrovsk, according to Ukrainian media.

Despite the ban by the Ukrainian authorities on publishing such footage, local residents are sharing video of the missile strike conducted on Wednesday morning, 3 July.

The Pivdenmash is one of the largest military plants of the USSR. It produced various ballistic missiles, launch vehicles for the Sea Launch project, as well as equipment for space programmes of numerous countries.

Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that the missile strike in Dnipropetrovsk had been successfully repelled, but the footage proved the opposite. The Russian party notes that “the appearance of objective control footage cannot be ruled out”, as a “reconnaissance drone was involved in the correction of the strike.”

The Ukrainian cameraman who shot the video confirmed that the target hit was a factory.

Russia chose the military plant as one of its targets, as it produced military products, including missiles and drones.

A day earlier, Russian and foreign media also published footage of a missile strike on Myrhorod Airbase in Poltava region, Ukraine. Critics emphasise that the strike might not have happened. They argued that it was Ukraine that provoked the retaliatory strike by targeting Sevastopol with US-made ATACMS missiles.
