Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will visit China next two days. During the visit he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Russian state media report.
At the meeting, the representatives of the states will discuss the development of comprehensive Russian-Chinese ties and strategic cooperation, as well as practical co-operative, humanitarian and regional exchanges. Russian government officials made the comments:
Special attention will be paid to the expansion of trade and economic cooperation and the promotion of large-scale joint projects in various areas. The sides plan to adopt a joint communique and sign a number of Russian-Chinese bilateral documents.
The Russian government said that co-operation with China is “steadily developing in all areas despite the difficult foreign economic situation”. Mutual trade turnover is growing and may reach a new record by the end of 2023, exceeding the mark of $200 billion. More than 90% of all bilateral settlements are made in the national currencies of the two countries – rubles and yuan.
Strategic co-operation in the energy sector is expanding: Russia has become the first in oil supplies to the Chinese market, second in coal supplies and third in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies. Natural gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline are being systematically increased, the Far East gas pipeline is planned for construction, and conditions for gas supplies to China via Mongolia are being worked out.
