As Russian forces continue their offensive in Donbas (common name for Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Ukraine), the administration of US President Joe Biden is announcing a new $425m aid package, according to Ukrainian media.
Local media report that Russian troops are rushing towards Kurakhove, threatening to cut the town’s supply road from the west. Sources in Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) say the Russians have advanced about two kilometres, with fighting for Rozlyv likely to take place “very soon.”
Russian troops were advancing north-west of Yasna Polyana, taking control of Bohoyavlenka and Yelyzavetivka, local media reported. Ukrainians are actively sharing a video of the construction of Ukraine’s so-called “Surovikin line” 10 kilometres from Dnipropetrovsk. The footage was allegedly shot near the village of Pishchanka, Dnipropetrovsk region, at the junction of the E105 and E50 roads.
10 kilometres from Dnipro, near Pishchanka. They are digging these… They are arranging possible positions in case the enemy does approach Dnipro. So, what was once just words, can now become true.
Military experts noted that the withdrawal of the AFU to the city of Dnipro is seen as one of the possible scenarios for the military development in Ukraine.
On 1 November, the Pentagon issued an immediate release saying that the Biden administration would send Ukraine a new military aid package worth $425m. The package includes air defence missiles and artillery shells, such as Stinger missiles and ammunition for NASAMS and HIMARS systems, as well as armoured vehicles and anti-tank weapons such as Javelin and AT-4. This is the 69th allocation of aid by the US since August 2021.
