Russians open new front point in eastern Ukraine

Russia launched another assault on a new section of the border, seizing the village of Sotnytskyi Kozachok in the northern Kharkiv region, according to Ukrainian media.

The village is located near the border between Russia and Ukraine, west of another front line in Kharkiv region (Vovchansk and Lyptsi). According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Russian troops conducted a battlefield reconnaissance near Sotnytskyi Kozachok about a week ago.

Officials stated that Russian military scouts entered the village at that time, but then left it.

Representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) also said that border guards had suffered losses due to the Russian offensive. According to Ukrainian media, Russian forces managed to advance a total of 11 kilometres.

Eastern Front

Meanwhile, Ukrainian media are also reporting a Russian offensive in Krasnohorivka and Toretsk. The Russians also reportedly captured Sokil and Svitanok, advancing to Novoselivka Persha and Yevhenivka. Ukrainian forces’ positions also deteriorated at Ocheretyne and Prohres.

Previously, Russia struck Myrhorod Airbase in Poltava region and Ukrainian Pivdenmash military plant in Dnipropetrovsk. Today, Ukrainian media reported a strike on MiG-29s at the Kryvyi Rih Airbase.

Ukrainian forces are also retreating from Chasiv Yar, where Russian forces have recently announced several offensive operations.

It became impractical to hold the Kanal district, which the enemy had entered, because it threatened the lives and well-being of our soldiers. Our defenders’ positions had been destroyed. The command decided to retreat to better protected and prepared positions.

Complaint against Zaluzhny

Currently, a member of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament), Mariana Bezuhla, stated that she had filed a complaint against the former head of the AFU, Valery Zaluzhny, with the state bureau of investigation, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the office of Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin.

Earlier, Bezuhla also reported that she filed a petition with the state bureau against AFU commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi for allegedly instructing not to let her into army units in the frontline zone.

In the process of preparation, I decided to expand my appeal: I am filing a complaint against Syrskyi and Zaluzhny to the State Bureau of Investigation, the Security Service of Ukraine, the office of the Prosecutor General with a copy to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Bezuhla also criticised Ukraine’s eastern military command, including Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol. Numerous public criticism and command scandals led Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to dismiss him as commander of the Joint Forces.
