Smoke rises over Gaza as Israel keeps firing

The Gaza Strip and surrounding areas have come under intense and destructive Israeli attacks over the past 24 hours, killing dozens of Palestinians, injuring hundreds and leaving many trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings. From the air, sea and land, Israel has struck residential buildings, humanitarian convoys, camps for displaced persons and infrastructure in various parts of the enclave.

Israeli aircraft and drones carried out a series of raids on residential neighbourhoods in Jabalia al-Balad, Beit Lahia, Deir al-Balah and east of Gaza City. As a result, a four-storey house belonging to the Darduna family in Jabalia was completely destroyed, killing at least six people, including children, and injuring many others. Dozens of people remain missing under the rubble. Civil defence teams and local residents continue rescue operations by hand, using only the most basic tools.

At the same time, Israeli helicopters and artillery fired on eastern areas of Khan Younis, the Shuja’iyya and Salah ad-Din neighbourhoods, and Deir al-Balah, where a humanitarian convoy was hit by several air strikes. According to reports, the convoy was attempting to deliver aid to the population but was attacked. At least six people were killed, including humanitarian workers. Another rocket was fired at the area while attempts were being made to rescue the victims, causing further casualties.

Fire on Gaza hospitals

Israeli strikes caused serious damage to Al-Awda Hospital after the army detonated a booby-trapped robot near the building. A medical warehouse in the Tel al-Zaatar area was burned down. Medical sources reported 80 deaths in 24 hours as a result of attacks on various areas of the sector.

Meanwhile, thousands of settlers demonstrated in Tel Aviv, demanding that Netanyahu’s government quickly conclude a prisoner exchange agreement. At the same time, fierce clashes broke out between settlers and Palestinian youths in the village of Bruqin, west of Salfit. The settlers set fire to houses and cars, causing fires in residential areas. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported numerous burns among the injured.

During the night and morning, Gaza residents remained under constant threat to their lives, facing a shortage of medicines and a humanitarian blockade.
