SpaceX owner Elon Musk announced that the company’s headquarters would now officially be located in Starbase, Texas.
Musk declared in July that he was moving the headquarters of his two companies, social media platform X and SpaceX, from California to Texas. He said gender identity law was the “last straw” that influenced the decision to move.
Earlier this year, he also moved SpaceX registration from Delaware to Texas. This followed a shareholder vote by Musk to move Tesla’s state of incorporation to Texas, where it was headquartered. The decision came after a Delaware judge invalidated his $56-billion pay package.
In 2021, Musk also moved Tesla headquarters from California to Texas, but said California would remain its engineering centre. That same year, the billionaire changed his residence from California to Texas, where no state income tax is levied on individuals.
