Speakers of Azerbaijani, Armenian parliaments to meet in Geneva

Yerevan has announced a meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Geneva, Armenian media reported.

According to the media, the meeting between Sahiba Gafarova and Alen Simonyan will take place today. Simonyan’s secretary confirmed this information.

Earlier, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Martin Chungon said that discussions on the establishment of the Azerbaijani-Armenian inter-parliamentary dialogue platform may take place in March in Geneva.

Chungon stressed that the IPU is aware of the latest developments in the region and relations between Azerbaijan and its neighbours, and the IPU, as an organisation established to strengthen peace and security in the world, considers it necessary to discuss and engage with the parties to the crisis and see how it can help through dialogue to resolve issues that are not standing still and have the potential to create instability.
