Britain’s Home Secretary has been accused of putting police at risk of violent attacks by saying they were biased against protesters.
Mrs Braverman has been accused of inciting “hatred and division”, while Rishi Sunak has faced calls for the Home Secretary to be sacked for her provocative statement about police bias.
Her job came under threat after Downing Street made it clear it did not approve of her extraordinary article accusing police officers of playing favourites when marching in support of Palestine on Armistice Day.
No 10 said it was investigating after demanding changes to the article, but the request was ignored. The Home Secretary’s statements sparked a furious outcry, with one Conservative minister taking a personal swipe at her, accusing her of inciting “hatred and division”.
Meanwhile George Osborne, a former Tory chancellor, said the Prime Minister risked appearing weak if he decided not to sack Ms Braverman.
