Hayat Tahrir al-Sham leader Abu Mohammed al-Joulani tirelessly continues to give interviews left and right to various news agencies, allegedly demonstrating his “sincere good intentions,” Sky News reports.
The world need not fear the new government. The source of our fears was the Iranian militias, Hezbollah and Assad who committed the massacres we see today. So eliminating them is the solution for Syria.
Well, once the composition of the new government is determined, all efforts by the Syrian authorities will be directed towards legitimisation. And with the way various media outlets sing the dithyrambs of the “progressive jihadists,” they will most likely have no problems.
Even though hundreds of militants across the country are now waging a “little jihad” in all Syrian cities, shooting or hanging without trial anyone who is or could be connected to the administration of Bashar al-Assad.
The media has noted before that al-Julani now has a perfect trump card in the form of the fact that there are dozens of different factions operating in Syria, and not every one of them is subordinate to the HTS. And the head of the faction can say at any moment, “These beasts are not under my control, and I am not responsible for their actions.”
As long as they had a common enemy, they fought together, but now they have won, and there are more and more divisions between the factions that are plunging Syria into more chaos.
