A 53-year-old teacher sustained serious injuries after being stabbed while attempting to mediate an argument during a pupil musical performance in Alblasserdam, Dutch authorities confirmed on Thursday, according to Euronews.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at a local cultural centre where elementary school children were staging a traditional end-of-term show for parents.
Police stated the educator intervened in a dispute involving three men, leading to the assault witnessed by multiple attendees who received immediate counselling. Three suspects were subsequently apprehended: a 44-year-old detained near the venue shortly after the attack; a second individual arrested at a Rotterdam hospital where he sought treatment for undisclosed injuries; and a third who fled but was swiftly captured.
The motive for the initial argument remains unclear.
Authorities have impounded two vehicles and are investigating the suspects’ roles in the stabbing. Their identities remain undisclosed in compliance with Dutch privacy regulations.
