Teenager fatally stabbed in bury as police launch murder investigation

Police have launched a murder investigation after a 19-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Bury, Greater Manchester.

The incident occurred shortly before 9pm on Friday evening in a car park on Market Street. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and, despite emergency services’ efforts, later died as a result of his injuries.

At this stage, no arrests have been made.

Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton, of Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team, confirmed that the victim’s family is receiving support. He said:
“This incident will understandably have caused concern in the community, particularly for those who witnessed it. However, we believe this was a targeted attack and there is no broader risk to the public.

“We currently have several scenes in place as part of our ongoing enquiries to identify and locate those responsible.

“Officers will remain in the area over the coming days as we continue our investigation and work to provide the victim’s family with the answers they deserve.”
